Traces of Grandpap stems from a late night T.V. vigil at my grandmother’s house.  Shortly after my grandfather died in 2006, my grandmother emptied the house of almost all his possessions.  As I flipped through infomercials and old movies, I noticed various items throughout the living room that my grandmother had missed - a transistor radio, a pencil sharpener, a key chain. I began to search the house and soon amassed a collection of knick-knacks and personal items.  Traces of Grandpap displays those items in commemoration of my grandfather’s life.  At the same time, it references a family’s struggle to both remember and let go.
